There are many types of baseball and softball bats currently available on the market, but in my opinion Demarini are certainly the best, in this article I aim to tell you why.
History of DeMarini Bats
DeMarini first launched there range of bats in 1989, more than 15 years ago, since then there products have become extremely popular in the batting world. DeMarini cater for two similar sports, Baseball and Softball, there bats have been a hit, excuse the pun, in both sports.
Three years after the initial company launch DeMarini moved there headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. Back when they had just started out DeMarini couldn’t afford huge advertising budgets and had virtually no retailers, they only sold direct to customers.
In 1993 DeMarini released there patented ‘double wall bat’ known as the Demarini Doublewall. This invention skyrocketed DeraMini’s sales as it allowed average players to hit like pros by utilizing a huge ‘sweet spot’. As expected it wasn’t too long before other companies were producing knock off ‘Doublewall’ bats.
How was the first DeMarini Bat made?
Couple with Mike Eggimen, Ray DeMarini created DeMarini Sport’s first bat, Ray had the batting experience as he was a hero among softball players, previously working for ESPN, Ray had an extremely high knowledge of batting. Mike was his engineer, and together they built there first low budget machine. It was a piece of bat making equipment allegedly made from parts of an old washing machine.
Together Ray and Mike created a series of inventions that would take the batting world by storm, including the first high performance bat for bigger players named ‘Fatboy’.
Unfortunately in 2001 Ray DeMarini died of cancer at the age of 55, although Ray is gone his legend still lives on through DeMarini Sports and his great achievements as an amazing player and bat-maker alike.
Information on DeMarini Softball bats
Softball bats are made of metal, hardwood or any other material that has been approved by the ASA (American Softball Association). All softball bat manufactures are required to certify there bats to the standard BESR (Ball Exit Speed Ratio) and 1.20BTF (Bat Performance Factor).
DeMarini are one of the industry leaders in manufacturing softball bats. Demarini uses a method of fusing together carbon composite materials plus high performance aluminium. This combination creates an incredible “pop” when hit.
